13:45 Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (6f)
Sacred built upon her promising debut when going mightily close in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and looks the one to beat on the book. Trainer William Haggas has twice landed this contest in the last decade and this daughter of Exceed And Excel looks almost certain to be suited by the extra furlong. Santosha proved her excellent third in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (Group 2) was no fluke when outbattling the re-opposing Hala Hala Hala in a Group 3 at Ascot last time. Separating that pair today appears a thankless task and both warrant serious consideration. Scarlet Bear has a little to find with Sacred on their Queen Mary form and trainer Tom Dascombe has been quiet of late, this step back up in trip looks sensible though and with 5 places on offer she could reward each way players at 25/1. Sussex Garden and Miss Amulet travel over from Ireland, both appear to have a little to find though both hail from shrewd yards.
Selection - Scarlet Bear (E/W 25/1, 5 places)
14:15 Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes (6f)
Kevin Ryan has twice saddled the winner of this in the last ten year's and is double handed this time around. Uncle Jumbo caused something of a surprise when turning over an odds on shot on debut, that race might not have taken much winning but he is entitled to improve and has Moore booked to ride. Tinochio missed the break in the Super Sprint at Newbury, he could never really land a blow thereafter although he did run on well enough to suggest this extra furlong would be a positive. Devious Company would be as deserving as any on the back of his last two performances at Group 2 level. Tactically straightforward, I would be surprised if dropping back a furlong proved an issue though I suppose the ground is a slight query. Happy Romance ran well for a long way at Royal Ascot before running out of puff late on, she impressed when landing the aforementioned Super Sprint but wouldn't be guaranteed to uphold the form with Tinochio on these terms.
Selection - Tinochio (E/W 7/1, 5 places)
14:45 Clipper Logistic Handicap (7f,192y)
Favourite backers could be on a roll by this point and likely favourite, Top Rank, looks certain to be popular given he brings an unbeaten record to the table. Nudged up 12lbs after hammering his rivals at Thirsk would usually look fairly harsh though he won with such authority that you could be forgiven for thinking he was ready for a go in pattern races. Betting 3/1 shots in such fiercely run affairs wouldn't be my idea of fun and I haven't, that being said, I wouldn't be shocked if he proved up to it. Prompting is another rapid improver, his latest victory at Goodwood was rather overshadowed by a few hard luck stories in behind. Perhaps the neigh sayers had a point although to my eyes he was an authoritative winner and he has won here before. Firmament has been called plenty of names during his time, this mark should probably prevent him from winning though he absolutely loves the course. Sir Busker often finds bother in the run and has looked unlucky the last twice, Oisin Murphy again takes the ride and he could go well but is short enough. What's The Story won this last season off a 3lbs lower mark, his return to form when third at Newcastle was promising and he is another who likes this venue.
Selection - What's The Story (E/W 16/1, 6 places)
Selection - Prompting (Win 17/2)
15:15 Darley Yorkshire Oaks (1m3f,188y)
Love arrives here as the outstanding candidate after thrashing her rivals in the Guineas and then following up in devastating fashion in the Oaks. Looking for potential dangers against her is bordering on impossible, perhaps the biggest danger would be the ground though it would be terribly disappointing if she failed to put these away. One Voice ran well enough at Ascot and holds claims for second, as does Franconia although both are lightyears behind the favourite in terms of form. Manuela De Vega is proven on the ground, any further rain would enhance her claims in the ''Without'' market (Currently 3/1 without Love) and she could prove the value in that particular market.
15:45 British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes (1m3f,188y)
This looked a decent chance for Gold Wand to bounce back to winning ways and I played at bigger prices this morning (11/2 now 4/1) her recent second behind Franconia looked a decent effort as the pair pulled right away and trainer Roger Varian has his horses in fine form. Vivionn is frustrating and usually finds at least one too good, her second in this contest last season was a decent effort and she has place claims once more. Albaflora, Lady G and Golden Pass are unexposed enough to warrant playing as alternatives though I would be disappointed if Gold Wand failed to regain the winning thread.
Selection - Gold Wand (Win 4/1)
16:20 Sky Bet EBF Stallions Nursery Handicap (7f)
Bonnyrigg looked in trouble entering the final 2f at Newmarket before knuckling down in pleasing fashion to get up in the dying strides. This extra furlong should prove more suitable for him and he has every chance of following up in what looks an open contest. Mayaas could be the potential fly in the ointment, twice he has attracted fairly strong market support although twice it has proven to be misplaced. Perhaps today's extra furlong will play into his strengths, he certainly looks a slow burning type though at short odds he makes only limited
appeal. Mark Of The Man is chasing the hat-trick and won quite impressively at Goodwood, granted a decent pace to aim at his chances of running into at least a place look fairly solid. Rhoscolyn and Basilicata ought to ensure there isn't any messing around as both like to front run, the pair have claims of sorts and could take some pegging back if afforded enough rope.
Selection - Mark Of The Man (E/W 8/1, 4 places)
16:50 British Stallion Stud EBF Fillies Handicap (7f)
Lawahed probably didn't need to improve to score at Haydock last time and she duly dismissed her rivals with a minimum of fuss from the front. Stepping into handicap company for the first time today she easily stands out as the most appealing of a fairly unconvincing bunch and is taken to follow up. Anna Nerium is a very interesting challenger, a three time Group winner running in a handicap is bound to catch the eye although she has at times looked a shadow of her former self. Her effort last time was encouraging enough and the booking of Moore is another positive, currently at 9/1 I could see the sense in betting her each way though she will have to be on her game carrying 9st10lbs. Amber Storm and Dancing Vega must improve upon what they have shown although both are unexposed and could do so.
Selection - Lawahed (Win 2/1)
Selection - Anna Nerium (E/W 9/1, 4 places)
Been a really busy day today, from a racing point of view the Blog was probably of little use to anyone outside of the first race. For future purposes I will try and release my thoughts a little earlier, it is possible I will leave a review of my overall thoughts from York on Sunday as well as anything else that catches my eye. For those who take their time to read through again, thanks for your support, appreciate it. Good luck with whatever you have decided to play!!!
